Help! Air Cleaner Doesnt Fit Right
I just installed a 14" Mr. Gasket and it fits; with the 2.25" hiegh air filter it gave so i left the stock air cleaner manifold screw in where the tbi is. So I went to autozone today and bought a 14" x 3" k&N Performance Air Filter; filter fits in the mr. gasket base but for the height the manifold screw that came stock with the car was to short so i went and exchanged it with the straight screw that came with the air cleaner and it doesnt align the top lid right on top; its shifted over like 1", where could I buy a screw or something that will help fit it? I don't know if anyone else has had this problem as well.
The 14" mr. gasket air cleaner is a open element air cleaner just so you know.

Re: Help! Air Cleaner Doesnt Fit Right
If the throttle body is the same as the TBI on my truck (I'm pretty sure it is), the stock air cleaner stud isn't straight, but bent in the middle. On the TBI trucks, the air cleaner is held on by 2 studs, although the center threaded hole is still there. To put an open element on my truck, I had to remove the 2 stock studs, and put one in the center. I went to lowes and bought a threaded rod, 1/4"x20 if I remember correctly. I then put the correct bends in it using a vise and a hammer, and trimmed it to length. It doesn't really matter if you monkey up the threads in the middle, you only need the threads on the ends of it.
