Ignition issues?
So to make things short, tonight I started the car in cold temps... it was idling for a while then I threw it in drive later hit the gas and then the dash lights went down along with the idol, let off the gas and the lights went back to normal along with the idol, then hit the gas again and the car died and wouldn't start again.

Battery, and or cables, loose connections at battery, starter, or ground. Don't forget fusible links at starter solenoid.

clean the grounds and tighten up cables
by a voltsmeter and check the battery voltage off and at idle if you can get it to run

Re: Ignition issues?
I still have to hook up a voltmeter but I did recreate the problem again this time with my Bonneville jumping the battery of the Firebird. It seems to be an air/fuel problem. After the car stalled out the same way as before and I was unable to restart it I then notice that the choke plate looked shut. I got the plate propped open a little and then restarted the car and it started. After what was propping the choke open was removed, the car started to spudder and seemed like it was going to stall again just as the first time until I started opening the choke and playing with the throttle and it then started acting more normal. It's just odd that this only happens when in gear, not in park or neutral.
Possibly carb settings?

Re: Ignition issues?
yes its the black cover on the choke
if it has rivets you must drill them out and tap the holes for screws
sometimes the thermostat spring gets worn out and you must buy a new one
