Re: windage tray

AFAIK the fbodies didn't come with windage trays - don't know for sure about the vettes.

The oil pan comes with internal baffles.
I use a Moroso windage screen. It comes with ARP studs for the mains. I had to remove the baffles in the pan to run the screen. It also required some slight bending in a couple of spots since it isn't designed to fit any specific factory oil pan.

If you're not going to use a tray or screen then I see no reason why those main bolts wouldn't work with your caps.

Re: windage tray

My block is still a 2-bolt, and I used a windage tray from an LT1. I don't recall any of the TPI engines having factory windage trays...at least on the F-body's.

Re: windage tray

Not sure if it would work or not but the L31 vortecs came with a factory setup that uses 3 studs for the crank bolts. You might try to find one of those at your local wrecking yard. I wouldn't think there would be that much difference in the two engines.

Re: windage tray

Well I'm thinking you could....but just to be sure I think I'd measure the dimensions between the studs, or make a cardboard pattern of them and head out to the wrecking yard to see if I could find one there. It would probably be less $ anyway. Even if all you found was a junk one you could at least verify the pattern so you could have the egay seller verify that. BTW mine does fit in the factory pan.
