What would you recommend me to get?

Ok I have set a list of what I want to get done to my car this year.
Headers.
Throttle Body.
Cold air intake.
Rear end gears.
Camshaft.

I know all of you will say get hooker headers but im going with headman. Throttle body im looking into BBK and cold air is SLP if I can find where to get them. Rear end gears im looking into 3:73 to 3:90. Camshaft I have no idea what to look at. Do you guys recommend anything diffrent. Please dont say hooker headers, I heard the story many times already haha.

I also might not be able to afford all the upgrades since I do have to remove some minor rust and get two of my rims repainted. I have enough or am close enough for the performance parts but not the cosmetics

I wouldn't bother with the throttle body.

If your engine is stock other than the things you're going to be doing to it, then the TB doesn't really cause enough of an obstruction to limit power right now. It's not your limiting factor yet.

Waste of money since the minimal mods you're going to do will not require a larger throttle body.

You can fabricate your own "ram air" style cold air intake with your stock air box connecting to behind the fog lights.

Don't overlook things like subframe connectors, strut tower brace, and suspension goodies. These can be pretty cheap and make the car feel a lot tighter and handle better.

Re: What would you recommend me to get?

I'm running the Hedmans and love 'em. Installation was pretty easy too. Go with something like a Lunati 00017 http://store.summitracing.com/partde...7&autoview=sku. If you go with too much lift you will have to change the valve springs. I've run this cam for years and it works well and I never changed the valve springs. Good luck and have fun with it. Half the fun is trying out different combos that you decide on and see how they do. Dan

Re: What would you recommend me to get?

I would say that the most bang for the buck by itself would have to be the gears, the 3.73 will really help your acceleration, or tire smoke tremendoulsy if you have 2,73 or similar now, then I would work on the headers, so thet when you install the cam later you will be able to support it. I agree that a set of 2210s would be way to much for your car and not money well spent, I would probably buy a set of shorties to keep ground clearance, just make sure you get 1-5/8 primaries. With your combo I would not get carried away with suspension mods, I have an 11 second camaro with stock suspension, when I went to subframe connectors I could tell no difference, now don't get me wrong, they are a good idea for a unibody car, but you will not get any more fun out of the car with them in my opinion, I would say the same for a strut tower brace ect. They will help your car handle better, but I have always thought these cars handle great, I just wanted mine to go fast along with that handling.

I agree with you. The handling on these cars to me a great and Im not road racing so its not a concern right now. I have enough money for the camshaft, headers and gears. Im hoping the car will run low 14's maybe.

Re: What would you recommend me to get?

That would be a perfect way to go about it, the camshaft headers and gears will greatly increase your performance for not to much cash. good luck and have fun with your build.

What good cam would go into a stock 350 without changing everything else?

Well that is a question you may get a whole lot of different answers to! I do think many people agree the Lunati Voodoo line of cams are excellent performers, and are priced right. It is the size of the cam that is up for debate. Personally, I would reccomend something with a 252-262 advertised duration. I am not sure however how much cam you can run with stock valvesprings, I would imagine something in that size would work, but maybe someone who has tried it will chime in and let you know what worked for them.

Re: What would you recommend me to get?

I've heard .420" was max lift for stock valve springs, springs wont run you to much more and will prevent you from running into any problems in the future with the valvetrain, like coil bind, so I would atleast replace the springs with the cam.

So what does everyone recommend for the cam?

The problem's not the springs, it's the valveguide clearance. You need to machine the heads for more lift, but it's a trivial operation.

Voodoo's aren't intended for EFI setups, unless you do some serious tuning. Which, nothing of the sort has been mentioned.

If the bosses are getting milled, then I would look to the Comp XFI line. Seen good results with those grinds.
