i was jw if someone could tell me by giving them my vin or help me out nd give me an idea what im looking for. The car is a 91 trans am GTA with 305 TPI. Im trying to by headers nd dont know wich ones i should get. I know i have an 02 sensor but have no idea what the air injection is. Any help would be greatt, thanks guys.

 

yes you need the air injection tubes to keep your air pump functional

are you having someone do the work for you or are you planning to do it yourself

 

You can easily tell air injection headers from non AIR headers. Look at the top of the headers where they bolt to the heads. If you see a smaller tube running across the top of all the exhaust tubes, they're AIR injected.

If the car is stock, you will have air injection on it. All models of 3rd gen cars have it as part of the emission controls..

 

can i run the car without it? im looking to do a set of headers nd was wondering if im going to need it

 

I wish i did not buy the ones with air injection tubes

headers in the thirdgens on the pass side is hard enough

 

Just take the crap off, GM put it there so future AH's would have problems installing headers.

The AIR tubes and AIR pump are part of the emissions devices for the car, and therefore it is illegal to remove them on a street car in all 50 states.

The Hooker 2055's are great for a stock engine.

No, GM put them there because it was required for the vehicles to pass the emissions test. They are required equipment per federal law.

 

You can run without them, but your car will no longer pass inspections legally, in any of the 50 states.
