Oily plugs?

Pulled out a couple of plugs to check for a hard to start condition, and random dying. A few of them had oil on the threads. Was wondering how bad this is?

Re: Oily plugs?

is it just oil on the threads or is the part that actually goes into the block Wet with oil ??

sometimes the threads get wet when you take them off or put them in because you've got oil leaking from the valve covers

Re: Oily plugs?

The threads were pretty wet. the actual electrodes werent. Just a bit of carbon buildup. Worried about bad piston rings =/

Re: Oily plugs?

I wouldnt worrie too much then as stated earlier oily threads could just be as result of a leak. Bad rings will show with blue smoke that hangs in the air like ww2 battleships exhaust. Oil on the electrodes would mean something but if its not on the electrode no need to even get into that.
