new cam

i looking to buy a new cam kit for my 305 camaro 1987 i wanted to knoe whats the best but cheapest kit i have got header eldebrock proformer intake and new holly carb what else would i need pls i need this help thanks

'87 model year engine, correct?

If so, you have a roller lifter cam, and it would be a good idea to keep it that way. You would need cam, timing set, and valve springs, most likely, depending upon how much lift and the RPM range of the cam. The lifters can be reused unless they have been damaged (either due to oil change neglect or dirt).

Lest you think a cheaper flat tappet cam kit would cost less, you'll also need to replace the push rods. Overall it may still cost less than a roller cam & timing set, but it would still be a downgrade.
