Oi vey. It works then it doesnt. Then it works again. And then it doesnt.

I recently bought my 92 305 tpi camaro and I'm having quite a few electrical problems I believe.

The light above my head works turns on when I open a door, but when I turn the car lights on and twist it to the left (to turn on all interior lights) it doesnt work. Occasionally, it WILL turn on and then when it turns off, it doesnt turn back on again. And this repeats quite a bit.

Today, my AC stopped working. It was all fine and blowing air at my face, and then all the air just stops blowing and it switches itself to the windshield defroster. The AC just stopped working and nothing would turn it back on, until I was almost home and it decided it wanted to start working again.

Now the mother of my problems. This is the only one that I realllllyyyy care about. My radiator fan stopped working, so I figured I'd need a new fan motor. (I recently replaced the thermostat so I assume it's not because of that). I'd be fine for about ten minutes of driving, then I'd get close to the red and I'd need to pull over and rest for about an hour while my car cools down. Turning the AC on doesnt turn the fan on either. It just wont start. However, It started working today (wooo), but the next time I get in the car, it randomely stopped working again. Should I just get a new motor or is there somethin electrical I need to fix?

Thanks for you time,
Vitaliy

Hmm, well im not sure where the real problem might be, but i think i can definitely help you out... i read in some of the FAQ's that you can run a Manuel override switch for the fan, you just splice the wire going to the sensor and hook it up to a standard switch... if you do this at least you can establish if its a wiring problem, sensor problem, or if the fan is actually burnt out.... and if the override works at least youll be able to turn your fan on while you drive until you can really fix the problem....
heres the link to the section i was talking about..

Before you do any splicing, eliminate one circuit at a time (by fuse pulling). That way if you have a electrical gremlin you can narrow it down.

Well what I did was I bought a new relay and swapped that out, it didnt fix the problem. I also bought a new water temp switch (lady at kragens reccomended it, I told her i needed a thermal fan switch and this is what she gave me), but I have no idea where it goes or how to install it. I bought the 82-92 camaro repair manual, and I couldnt find the location of this switch. All the fuses are good.

And I dont understand what you mean by fuse pulling to find out if I have an electrical problem? How would I go by doing that?

I also bought a multimeter because I was going to test if theres a 12V and a ground at the fan motor. However, I can't figure out how to test this. There are two wires that attatch to one connector that plugs into the fan, and I can't figure out how I'm supposed to test for voltage and for ground with the multimeter. Is the car supposed to be running? Where do I put the prongs of the multimeter, and what setting do I set the multimeter to?

A couple weeks ago I put in a 160* thermostat because I was over heating back then, and it fixed the problem. So since I have a new thermostat, I dont think thats the problem either.

I could upload pics if it would help? I'm sorry for being such a noob, it's just I'm 18 and don't know much about car's but I dont got too much money to spend going to a mechanic, even though I just spent like $115 on supplies. bleh.

But thanks for the help guys

edit:
This is what I bought, lady working at kragens told me it was the fan switch I needed. Is it?
