Once in a while I get this strong gas odor. Last time this happened was Saturday, went for a drive parked the car and a few hours later started the car again to go home and it smelled like crazy, even the people I was with wondered what it was. I figured it might be EGR canister purging or something and by the time I get home it will be all done. Got home (15 mins drive) and the smell was still there but not as strong though. I haven't started the car since but I looked it up and the purge is supposed to go back in the intake not in the air.

I don't think is the tank, the smell was to intense to come from there, it was like somebody was spraying gas. I also don't think it was coming from the tail pipes, it just didn't have that kind of smell.

Any ideas what this might be and how to fix it?

Have you checked the fuel lines for leaks? even the tiniest will smell very strong

I guess I'll have to do that. I was just wondering if anyone had similar problems or knew if the EGR canister would do something like this.
I'll look into it sometime this week.
