Valve covers
Anyone know where to get chrome/stainless valve covers for a 92 bird 305 tbi?
I checked summit, couldn't find any.

Re: Valve covers
opinion: WAY over priced and for my taste way to busy. Lines, logos... I like things sleek. Less is more.

Re: Valve covers
IMO, the best looking centerbolt valve covers are the aluminum (magnesium?) L98 Corvette valve covers. These are the ones that came stock on the L98 Corvettes. They are just the stock SBC height, not the "tall" ones you'd probably need for a set of roller rockers, but they have all the holes in the right places already, they are baffled properly - lots of aftermarket ones have crappy baffles, or none at all - and they look really good. They pop up on Ebay all the time, and sell for a pretty reasonable price most of the time.
The composite LT1/LT4 Corvette covers are a pretty nice set as well. They look really good and really 'clean'. The LT4 ones are a little taller too, as they are designed to work with roller rockers - the LT4 had Crane rollers from the factory.
BTW - I have a set of Comp Pro Magnum rockers under a set of stock-height 'M/T' valve covers, so a set of roller rockers may fit under those L98 ones as well.

Re: Valve covers
my only concern is I don't want it seem too busy under the hood. i have an edlebrock air cleaner open element so I am just starting with under the hood "appeal". I am not sure what/if I will do afer the valve covers.

Re: Valve covers
Air cleaner and valve covers are a good start to that. A nice set of ceramic coated headers would be a nice addition too, and improve sound and performance too.

Re: Valve covers
"You get what you pay for" is more true for headers than probably any other performance part out there, lol. Don't go cheap on headers, or you will regret it later... cheap headers warp, leak, rust, and/or crack. Good ones don't, but good ones cost money.
Hooker 2055 is probably the best shorty set out there, and there is also the Hedman set (68470) that is also a very good shorty set, with or w/o emissions components, with or w/o ceramic coating. I have the painted 68470 headers and I like them. They fit well, good plug access, easy access to the oil filter, and the Y-pipe fits nice and tight to the chassis. Only drawback is the outlet on the Y-pipe is 2.5"... you'll have to modify it to make it a 3" outlet. The Hooker Y-pipe has a 3" outlet.
I've never seen the Fast Toys set before, but it looks like a quality set. That Y-pipe may have a 2.5" outlet though, like the Hedman Y-pipe does, unless the whole Y-pipe is 3"... it looks like its the same size all the way through.
