Solid roller cam with hydraulic roller lifters?

Im not sure what the difference is between a solid roller and hyd roller cam so i was wondering can you use hyd roller lifters on a solid roller cam?

my oil pump failed and the cam got scored by the bearings so instead of turning it i was going to replace it.
Found a cam with the specs i want but it says its a solid roller cam i dont know what the difference would be the both use roller lifters so im not sure it would be an issue.

I suppose you could try it, but I don't think I'd suggest to. The solid roller cam has faster ramp rates than a hydraulic roller and would probably want more valve spring. I know they take a lot more spring when used normally with solid roller lifters.

Re: Solid roller cam with hydraulic roller lifters?

Solid lifter cams take way more pressure than hydraulics, without the pressure (180-200#) the cam will beat the crap out of the lifters. Hydraulic lifters won't take that much pressure.
Best advice....don't do it.
