Cruise Control Question
I have a 92 Firebird GTA and I'm wondering if I have a problem with my cruise control. Since I don't know how this system is designed to work I figured I'd ask here.
The situation is that I'm cruising along, speed limit is 50 MPH and since I'm traveling a well patrolled road I decide to set my cruise at 50. I come to the stop sign at the end of the road and since there's no one around I decide to see what would happen if I hit resume on the cruise.
I assumed it would go full-throttle 'till I reached 50, but it didn't. It instead slowly accelerated up to 50. I use my cruise every day on the interstate back and forth to work and it maintains speed with no troubles. If I hit resume at 70 with it set to 75 it'll surge up to 75 (which is why I expected it to go full-throttle to 50).
Is this what it's supposed to do, or is it designed this way to prevent a peel-out?

Re: Cruise Control Question
Cruise control is only supposed to help maintain a speed. The rate of acceleration will be slower if you are just using the resume button. From what it sounds like, your car is working normal and congrats on having a car where it does work! (I'm jealous because I don't have cruise in my car)
