Re: gas mileage!

I used to get single digits around town pretty regularly in the summer with my '83 when it was a DD. LT1 is now my DD and it gets about twice that.

Re: gas mileage!

I've had a dozen and a half F-cars, and none of the last 10 did worse than 22 mpg highway. I just won't tolerate mileage in the teens. All of the last 10 have had an overdrive automatic, and gearing between 3.08:1 and 3.73:1, except the'95 Z28 convertible. 4L60E, 2.73:1 gears, loose non-lockup converter and 85 mph got me 22 mpg across Wyoming.

Re: gas mileage!

I just calculated mine for the first time. 20 mpg with a mix of city and freeway driving. And I wasn't easy on the gas pedal either. Carbureted 305 with 147,000 miles on it. It was a nice surprise.

Re: gas mileage!

My mileage around town is nothing to brag about but on the highway steady cruising with the cruise control on I have already got close to 30 mpg. 5.0 (carb) 5 speed (.63 over-drive) 3.27 rear.

Re: gas mileage!

I get 8-10 in town and 18 on open road...low gear drive-bys really eat the gas quick.

Re: gas mileage!

I re-checked after driving through a tank of gas being REAL easy on the pedal and I got 18.
