confused on TBI

my buddy has a 305 TBI formula... and i had a 84 ta with the LG4 and then recently had my 93 with a LT1...so i skipped the TPI and TBI years and am not that familiar with the systems....
he runs the car for a while and looses oil pressure...specially on the dipstick so i told him sounds like a cracked block or verrryyyy bad valve stems...any thoughts? and also after he has run the car for 20+ minutes he cant start it again after running it... it takes a while for it to start again in other words like another 15+ minutes....
anyone help me out on this matter? btw i did tell him to just rip that 305 out and put a LT1/LT4 or LS motor in it. but thats down the road he just wants to have some fun with a new found FBody... and i dont blame him.

Re: confused on TBI

If it blows blue smoke out the exhaust that usually means bad valve seals and/or valve guides.

If there is low oil pressure and excessive oil in the air cleaner assy it could have bad rings
