Problems changing the fuel filter

I've done this in the past on my car and did not have this happen. I Unpluged the fuel Pump relay and started the car to depressurize the lines. I put the rear up on jackstands and put a drain pan under the filter. Broke the lines lose and started unscrewing it. Gas started flowing, wich I expected. But it kept going, I drained 5 gal. out before the flow stoped. I am assuming that a sophen action got started. Is this normal?

Yep, that's pretty normal. If your line is below the tank (most all are...)

Blow on the line to blow the air back into the tank, or just work fast... Or just let it all drain, then throw it back in the tank later.

Re: Problems changing the fuel filter

Humm ok, I tried the work fast method last night and now have chemical burn on my arm (I think the sta-bil I had in it) but I wasn't prepared with enough clean containers and ended up with contaminated fuel I now need to get rid of. Oh well lesson learned, I guess I got lucky the last time I changed it.

Thanks for the info.
