too hott??

too hott??

ok guys i got a 350 sbc, carbed car, edelbrock intake carb, and stock internalls. my car will stay around 180 most of the time but likes to soike up to 210. is that getting a little to hot? should i put a 170 or so thermostat in it? i have i think 195 in it now... any help would be appreciated

Nah man, 210 is actually right in the high end of normal operating temperature of these motors. Let me guess, it spikes up to 210 when you're cruising around down and stopped at stop lights? Mine does the same thing. So long as your fans and cooling system bring it back down to the 180 you'll be fine. Now, if it gets over that magic 220 number and goes up towards the redline, that's when I'd start getting worried.

ok ya at redlights and cruising it does. sometimes it drops back down to 180 then other times its 210
