87 IROC Z
305 TPI
700R4
last fall i ran a 9.52 1/8 mile and the tranny was slippin
since then i had the trans rebuilt and it shifts hard.....changed plugs cap and button.
everything else on the car is stock
this year my fastest time is 9.57 and it falls on its face when i hit third gear.... what do i need to do to keep the power or get it back? i think i should be faster but the numbers say im wrong.

Re: where is my power going?
There are lots of varibles in drag racing, especially in a street car. The weather could be making all the differnace. Or maybe you are launching a differnt way.
You said your last run was in the fall. When I think of fall in my area, I think cool dry air. So far this year, we haven't had much of that yet. Mostly wet....today was very humid. The change in conditions could be worth a couple tenths.
Or it's possible that the slipping transmission was actually helping you. Sort of working like a CVT system. The new, good transmission is staying in gear and loading the motor more. How likely this is, I don't know....just throwing it out there.
If you want to go faster, get more power or a better chassis setup.

Re: where is my power going?
i understand the weather has an impact just thought the $600 i put in it would out wiegh the 20 degree temp change. do you think the weaker cam in my motor would cause the 3rd gear power loss?
