starter motor matching?
I bought an 84 Z28 with no motor. i spent the last while rebuilding an old '69 010 block 350. I bought a summit brand protorque mini-starter with clocking plate from a fellow forum-goer. the plate has 4 holes in it, all in a line from which you pick the correct two and bolt it to the block. when i went under to try and bolt it up, i realized that my block has offset holes. I would have taken a pic but camera is dead. anyways, i went on summit to see if they have different starters for sale for older blocks or something but i cant find anything. I have hooker competition headers and i don't think a stock starter will fit. if anyone knows, and i'm sure someone does. what is it i have to do or search or where to go to get the proper starter or maybe its just the mounting plate which will fit my block? any help is appreciated.

nvm. I went back on summit and found staggered ones like 1 min after i made the post. if anyone has one for sale though.....
Re: starter motor matching?
I could be wrong, but I believe them there T5 transmissions only use a 153 tooth flywheel. And the staggered bolt pattern starters are for a 168 tooth flywheel. Maybe someone can confirm whether I am right or wrong, but I don't think you want to buy a new starter. You will need to have a hole drilled in the block.

you gotta be shitting me. there has to be a way. theres already a hole in the block, looks like its for some sort of dimple or something to align something. sort of like the ones to align the bellhousing. anyways, i'm sure there's a solution. I called the local speed shop, they said they don't sell the mounting plates seperately.

You gotta drill a hole in the block! unless you want to fab something...
Maybe there's an easier way. Good luck.
