What Co2 Emission's do you have??

Hi there...

I was just wondering something. I am from Norway and I have thought about importing a Camaro IROC or Z28...
I have a Camaro sport coupe now but I want to go a step higher.

To import a car here in Norway you have to pay taxes...A lot of taxes to get the license plates on the car. And to calculate how much the taxes will be, I need to know how many grams of Co2 you have on 100km.
like this: CO2g/100km...Do any of you guys know how much your car produce???

I was thinking of a 305 or 350TPI engine because they have the best emission results...

I didn't know where to put this thread so I beleived the engine tech forum was the right one..
Please help me out here..

I happen to have my emissions slip handy done in HC, Nox, CO grams/mile.

L98 TPI with LB9 #081 305 heads, mild cam/headers, full smog equipment.

My car:
Hydrocarbons 0.61 grams/mile
Carbon Monoxide (CO) 3.43 grams/mile
Oxides of nitrogen 1.23 grams/mile

Probably see better numbers on a well taken care of factory TPI engine, id imagine!

Not bad at all....If I have calculated right I will get about 12,000 dollars in taxes if I want to get license plates on a car like you have...
And if I find a Camaro for about 10,000dollars + shipping and everything I will end up with a camaro for 20-25,000dollars and that is OK prize in Norway...

Im not a smog guru by any means, but I bet you could get a lower CO count
on a stock TPI car, which would translate into saving you a couple bucks.

The thing was my engine had 50 miles on the crank at the time of the test,
everything was extremely clean.. Im not sure how clean a TPI engine with
over 100,000miles would blow! Im sure you'll be ok!

Anyway, best of luck over there in Norway!

Re: What Co2 Emission's do you have??

Last test I had was 2 years ago (i'm in a non-emissions testing county now).....

350(5.7)/TPI/700R4
175,000 miles
Brand new 2-way catalytic converter, was put on by the previous owner just before selling me the car. So 13 months of usage.
No smog pump
No A.I.R. tube

2-speed test:
High Speed-2692rpm
HC 220-standard 4-my reading
CO% 1.20-standard 0-my reading

Idle
HC 220-standard 16-my reading
CO% 1.20-standard 0.01-my reading

Re: What Co2 Emission's do you have??

Thanks a lot for the replies guys...It is a reasonable prize if I could get a Camaro with a 305TPI.

As for your smog tests in US I can't use those readings, sorry...

I have a Camaro myself...1987 model that I have converted to a Z28.
So that is not excacly why I want to change but I just want to have a T-top car and it would have been very nice if the car was delivered with TPI as a stock engine. I just love TPI engines...Another thing is that it is very nice if the VIN number says it is a Z28/IROC...
