You tried to jump start the car but had no luck. Did you try to jump the starter? Do you have VATS bypassed or is it functional?

Re: Car won't start v10284532

forget jumping the stater, you more than likely have a busted starter solenoid about the only thing you can do to get it started again is bang on the starter with a hammer, and that only if you are stranded. so just cut your losses and buy a new starter it will safe you a whole lot of time. i had this same problem and got stuck twice in the middle of no where before i gave in and bought a new one, fixed the problem instally, good luck

I had the same thing happen with mine, and we found a faulty relay that is located behind the driver side kick panel. My dad ended up just by passing it somehow but it works now.. gl

Re: Car won't start v10284532

Both of the previous posts are example of people jumping to conclusions, don't hop on the floor banging on your starter.

I experience this problem every once in a while, usually in the winter when it's cold. I turn the key and nothing happens, no crank. I believe it's a bad ground cable, but I'm not certain because if that's the case then why is there still power to the accessories?

But anyway, you can determine whether your starter's good by getting some sort of voltage tester and testing the voltage at the terminal on the starter, or you can just unbolt it and take it to autozone, they will test it for free there.

If it's the starter, great, you've found the problem, half the battle's (which in most cases is the most difficult part) been won. Now you can replace the starter.

However if it's not that then there are many different things it could be, vats like they previously mentioned, a problem with the ignition switch perhaps, or wiring somewhere along the line.

Test the starter.
