Specs on the motor? CR, heads, etc.. if you actually build it to have 'guts' the sound will come with it.

Re: 454 best cam
It is basically a gen VI 454 stock. I am working on getting manifold, carburator, water pump, oil pump, and distributor is on its way. I will also have to order the March serpentine pulley kit. Its progressing one step at a time. Any advise will help since this is my first time building a engine and i definitely want the car to be fast i need to run over my brother's 89 5.0 HO.

Re: 454 best cam
Stock they were around 8.5-9:1 CR, so keeping the cam somwhere between 220-230* @.050 would be a good idea. Will keep driveability fairly good, and will sound nice too. Not raunchy, but it will have a bit of a 'cammy' sound to it.

Re: 454 best cam
You're talking about advertised duration, Adam is talking about .050" duration. Different things. Cams with 270ish duration will most likely have in the range of 220-230° @ .050" duration.

Re: 454 best cam
Sound means nothing compared to performance. My 454SS pickup has a deep rumble but all I have is a mild Crane Compucam in it. The exhaust goes through dual Hooker Aerochamber mufflers to give the deep rumble.
My race car is full performance. Cam is .748/.748 with 286/298 @ .050 and 112 LSA. It idles smoothly at 1000 rpm. I do run Magnaflow race mufflers though because with open exhaust, I would need to use ear plugs just to fire the car up.

Thats a nice catch can in the lower right of that pic Clint..... I had one just like it.
You ever gonna send me the one you owe me?
Oh and for anyone who is wondering what I'm talking about..... Roughskinjrz here scammed me out of a $20 coolant overflow bottle in a trade for my catch can. He clearly has my old catch can in the above pic, but months later...I still have no overflow bottle. Here's a link over on the Maliburacing forums for all interested in reading. http://www.maliburacing.com/forum/vi...p?f=13&t=85269
And Clint...... I will be bothering you untill i get what you owe me.
