can you "hear" a HO cam?
My 86 iroc has lg4 on the rpo code. I was told by 2 different sources that I have the HO cam, they said they could hear it. One of them told me it could have been ordered, but it would have been on the dealer spec sheet. I've never heard of this before. Just wondering if anyone else has.

The base engine for iroc z was the lg4 4bbl it could be ordered with the lb9 though. Only a handful were HO's (l69) in 86. Look under specs in thirdgen.org.

The HO cam was bigger than the LG4 cam, but not enough so that you could really tell the difference by the exhaust note. It was still a pretty tame cam. The LG4 and L69 didn't really sound any different by themselves, though the L69s bigger exhaust system may change the note a little bit.

I would have to pull the da*** thing out to look, but I am satisfied with the way it runs. I has a nice "lope" to it. It hits 5000 quite fast for the much maligned 305. I need to watch the tach carefully when I am going through the gears.. don't wanna blow the motor.
