New oil pan?

My oil-drain hole is stripped... so I guess I need to replace the oil pan. Should I just get a stock replacement or should I upgrade to something else? Thanks for the info, guys.

for a stock engine or near stock engine that sees only the occasional track duty, a stock replacement is fine. have you tried tapping it and rethreading it? or using a helicoil?

No, I have not tried any of those things. Would you recommend I do that, instead of buying a new pan? Thanks for the help.

BTW, what is a helicoil?

But as long as the pan is coming off anyways, it might as well just be replaced.

That is very true. Now where can I find a stock replacement?

my suggestion only stands if you dont want to take down your oil pan. im just trying to save you from removing the oil pan. anyways a helicoil or sometimes called a "fix a thread" is a little sleeve of threads, you simply drill out the hold larger than the final size, then cut threads into the hole, and then get the helicoil and thread it in. the little sleeve will thread into the existing threads you just made, but the interior threads will be a smaller size so you can use the original bolt, if you dont care what size bolt you use, you can just go larger using a tap and die. these instructions are general instructions, when you buy a little helicoil box, its specific for the correct thread pitch and correct diameter, also itll tell you what size the hole needs to be drilled out to first.

again, this is only so u can avoid removing the oil pan, if you really wanna take it off just get a new one

edit: you can go to kragen for a replacement or any auto parts store, or summit racing.com or jegs.com. i myself just go to a local shop for all my parts

Yes, he could do that without taking the pan off, but some metal filings will always remain in the pan, =bad.
