fuel line help
fuel line help
I have a TPI and the hard fuel line coming of the fuel rail cracked. I am trying to find replacements. will the straight steel lines from autozone, that can also be used for brake lines, work if I bend them myself? if so are the correct sizes 3/8 and 5/16? or is it better to get adapters to fed a AN-6 hose?
thanks

Re: fuel line help
the custom lines seem to be really expensive. are the straight steel lines that would be for brake lines also work for fuel lines? I only need a 18 inch section and if the pre-flared lines work, the fix would only cost about $10
so I guess a better question would be, is there a difference between a steel hydraulic line and a steel fuel line?

Re: fuel line help
I feel your pain. I also have a cracked line going into the fuel rail. I believe mine is the return line since it is the bigger of the two lines. My problem directly at the moment is how to remove the old piece of tube broke off in the port hole. I also purchased everything I thought I would need to fix the line from advanced auto parts. Flaring tool, bender, cutter, 5/16 straight lines and one 3/8 line that came in a bag that was "supposed to be the replacement line" for it. We'll see. First I have to get the old peice out... and that is why I'm searching the forums to find out how. It seems as though you need a special tool to get it out.
Re: fuel line help
I ended up making up my own new lines.
summit offers TPI adapter fitting to AN 6. I bought some 3/8 tubing and AN 6 tube nuts and sleeves and put together my own lines. It seems very solid, cheap, and looks good.

You can get this style fitting
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/AER-FBM1512/
which uses cheaper rubber EFI hose instead of braided s/s

I ended up using the AN6 adapters and bending some 3/8 aluminum tubing for both the feed and return line. all from summit. it was ez, cheap and works well. no leaks! And looks good!
