tranny mount problem

I break my transmission mount about every 3 weeks. Would a metal one be better than the 2 peice that i currently have on? Also which one.

Re: tranny mount problem

Are you using rubber or poly? I can't imagine poly breaking like that. I have a 350, shift kit, vette servos, and when my tranny shifts from 1 to 2, it jerks your head EVERY time, and barks rubber EVERY time, regardless of how light you are on the pedal, and my poly mount is going on 3 years old now.

Re: tranny mount problem

do not use metal, it will damage the trans.

use poly if you need something stronger. I would go with prothane, i broke a energy suspension one with hardly any mileage on it. Prothane seems to be made better as well

however, is the car still stock? there is no reason to go through mounts that fast. Are you sure you dont have a broken motor mount that is letting the drivetrain move too much and causing the trans mount to fail?

Re: tranny mount problem

My energy suspension poly mount deals with the stress of my T56 with no problems. Just go poly. Those rubber ones suck.
