Would appreciate any help with distributor question... Have concerns in regards to using newer style distributor from '91 motor in the '79 motor. Somewhere in a post I read that the gears would not interchange as far as meshing with the cam gear. Tried to remove gear from older type vacuum advanced HEI distributor & relocate it to the new distributor, but shaft sizes are different. The HEI vacuum distributor shaft is larger than the '91 distributor shaft - WAY too much play... not even close! Is there anything else that I should be concerned about in this area? If there is a gear that I need to get, can someone please provide a number? Any thoughts on how the motor will act with the tpi set up? Motor is punched 30 over. Did not have any lope at all. Had heads sent off, valve seats & valve springs re-done, new gaskets, cam was checked, re-used old lifters & push rods & re-assembled. Had to modify the 4 center bolts on intake so it would bolt up as required.
