Help!! My Alt Is SCREECHING!!

Transmission: 700r4, 700r4w/vette servos
Axle/Gears: 2.73 Open, 3.42 Open
Help!! My Alt Is SCREECHING!!
Ok, so I get my new (reman) alt all wired up on my maro (2.8 v6), start her up. And I get the loudest screech I have EVER heard. I mean REALLY loud. There's black dust (from the belt) on the alt fins. But the alt spins fine. My belt looks fine (4 rib serp style, but no tensionor), and I'm pretty sure I had the tension set right, I had to pull on it as hard as I could. I get about 1/4"-1/3" of deflection from alt to water pump. So am I too tight, loose or do I need a new belt? Please help quickly, like you guys always do

EDIT: I ran the engine with the alt off and it doesn't screech so I know it's the alt.
