When I floor it car does nothing for a few seconds then goes

Hey, i hope someone can help me with this, its been a problem for me for quite some time now.

What happens is, when i floor it all the way when im at a stop the car will move very little, wait like 4 to 5 seconds with no rev increase. Then it fires up and speeds away.

Car has no problem reving the motor under normal conditions, i can say hit the gas 3/4 and she jumps no problem.

The engine is 350 tpi, Anyone else had a problem similar to this. What you guys think could cause this?

Check to make sure your TPS is giving correct voltage at WOT, also if it absolutely makes no change whatsoever from idle for that amount of time you may want to check fuel pressure, throttle cable linkage, and/or injectors and their respective harness

what was said above, Do you have a check engine light? If so read the code.

What is correct voltage at WOT? I set mine to .54 at idle, so it should be correct at WOT, unless the darn thing went bad.

Re: When I floor it car does nothing for a few seconds then goes

This could also be a fuel delivery issue. If the engine goes lean, it will just sit there at idle even if the throttle is all the way open. I assume that this car is MAF? Ive had issues with MAF where if the engine starts misfiring, it will send pulses back up the intake, which cause the MAF to mis-report the airflow. The car will just sit there and spit and sputter until I back out of the gas. Do you have any aftermarket airboxes or intakes? The same thing can happen if you try to use pipes or CAIs. Standing waves can form which screw with the reported airflow.

Check the fuel pressure to be sure its OK (both at idle and under load), and also clean the MAF wires with cleaner if theyre dirty. MAF cars can do strange things if the MAF wires are dirty or there is some other engine issue.

I had a very similar issue recently.
It was either the replacement MAF or the replacement ignition module that fixed the problem.
I had the extra parts laying around and tried 'em.
I had a code for low airflow out of the MAF and the ig mod tested bad. Take your pick.

Re: When I floor it car does nothing for a few seconds then goes

I do have an adjustable regulator, i set it to 50psi, which from what i read is the norm now. I have replaced the Maf about 2 years ago. The one i got is the type that has a computer chip rather than the wire like the original. Also have the SVO #24 injectors in the car as well (they tick real loud) . the air intake isn't original there is a cold air that i built that's there.

I would like to check the TPS, i have never tried that yet. How exactly do i go about doing that?

im not sure but this is something else the car does, When i start it only really in the mornings it happens, i start it and i find myself halving to give her gas to keep her running. if i dont the idle will just keep dropping until it dies. Once the car has been idling then its all good and doesn't happen anymore. I figured maybe its related to the issue.

Thanks!

for your second issue, do you have your cold start injector disabled?
