HELP!! How do I put this on??
Ok, so I'm having a hell of a time putting a new pickup screen on my new oil pump. I tried putting a wrench on the flange and hitting it with a hammer, found this info out on the internet. Problem is I'm having trouble getting it started in the hole. I've got the screen in the freezer and am gonna try again with vasaline on it. Any other suggestions. Please I wanna drive my car

Got it on, I froze it and smothered it with vasaline. PITA but I got it on. Once I get the position right I'll JB-Weld it so it never comes off again. Thanks for the input.

Re: HELP!! How do I put this on??
One quick question, manual says to align the OP extension rod with the dizzy gear. I rotated and wiggled the pump until I got it flush with the block. Is there anyway that I can have the rod not aligned and still be flush. Just wanna make sure before I put everything back together.
Thanks!

just put the oil pump drive in with the pump. you can turn it from the dizzy hole.

yeah, with a long wide flat head screw driver. i used a hubcap pry/lug nut wrench from a chevy truck's jacking kit (only thing i had at the time big enough). i took a while and i was sad when i couldnt get the dizzy in the hole aligned. turned out the dizzy gear was reinstalled upside down. fix it. slopped right it. oh yeah gigadee gigadee

Re: HELP!! How do I put this on??
Ok, but I never took my dizzy out. It cleared the firewall so I left it on. So I wiggled the pump until it went all the way in. Does this mean I have aligned? Or do I really have to take my dizzy off?
Thanks
