Where is it on an 86 Firebird 305 LG4 Carb?

Don't think that year had an in-tank fuel pump, so I think your looking for the sending unit for the guage, which should be in the china wall of the block, rear of the block, close to distributor on driver side of distributor.

Should be right by the distributor. There's an oil gallery hole right there on the back of the block they use. It's facing up so you should be able to look under the distributor and see it without too much trouble.
