Help, my oil is leaking!
Well, I think it is the rear main seal but I am not 100% sure. I know replacing it entails taking the tranny off and I am converting to a standard here soon.
Any ideas, hints, tips?

where is the oil? it could be oil filter or the oil pressure sensor, right above the oil filter

Re: Help, my oil is leaking!
It might even be a leaking valve cover gasket or maybe leaking out the back of the intake manifold.
Hard to give a suggestion without knowing exactly what's leaking first. You need to do some basic troubleshooting to determine where the leak is coming from.

A long time ago a wise auto mechanic taught me that a rear main seal PISSES oil, it doesnt just leak. There will be NO doubt when a rear main goes. If you have under body oil... I would bet you its 1) valve cover...2) Oil pan...........
Honestly, clean it all up with a pressure washer. REALLY get into it. Start looking from there. Im betting you its a simple fix.

I'll do that. I am not 100% sure where the oil is coming from to be honest. Because when I took the torque convertor cover off there was no oil in there but oil is leaking off the outside of the cover.
I'm putting a quart in every 1.5 weeks.

Stay away from direct hits on your electronics, distributor and carb, pressure wash away! You wont hurt anything. If you didnt see any oil when you puled the converter cover, I doubt its a rear main. My guess is again, 1) valve cover 2) oil pan 3) maybe oil pressure sending unit or some loosened bolt somewhere. When I got my first 305, the entire undercarriage was soaked w oil. Turns out somebody had pulled off the original smog pump. The smog pump was bolted to the block, and they never put anything back in the bolt hole. WIDE open hole was just letting oil spray out any time the engine was running.

Re: Help, my oil is leaking!
like the other guys have said, leaking fluids will run on the block and follow any route they can find to the ground, its possible the leak is on top of the engine, or on the front of the engine and running down the block to the pan rail and dripping off the back.
You really need to get under the car and trace the oil back to wherever its coming from. Should be a trail or grime/oil where the oil is running

Re: Help, my oil is leaking!
Just take the torque converter cover off and shine a flashlight up at the seal. It's probably dry. I thought mine was bad and the leak drove me crazy for months until I put some UV dye in the oil. Turned out to be a pin hole in the pan behind the oil cooler line. You can get the dye kits at most parts places for ~$20.
