Black hoses coming out of fuel canister

Black hoses coming out of fuel canister
Hey gang - 88 GTA FI. The black fuel canister in the passengers side of the engine bay has a bunch of black rubber hoses coming out of it that are just flaking apart. So I'd like to swap them out and just had a couple of questions:
a) Two hoses connect directly to the engine itself. I'm assuming I can just pull them right off and replace with new ones, correct? (don't have to relieve any gas pressure or anything)
b) One hose connects to the metal fuel line. What's the trick to taking this one apart? For example, CAN I even disconnect the rubber hose from the metal line, or is it all one piece? If I can disconnect it, do I have to relieve the pressure in the lines somehow?
c) For ALL hoses, can i just go to any Autozone and ask for simple everday 'rubber vacuum hoses', or are these specials types of hoses that are meant only for gasoline transfer?
THANKS EVERYONE!

Re: Black hoses coming out of fuel canister
The two smaller ones are vacuum lines - regular vacuum hose will be fine.
The one running to the metal fuel line should be fuel injection quality fuel hose.
This is the evap canister or charcoal canister - it collects excess fuel fumes from the fuel system. Every so often the computer sends a signal to a solenoid in the canister, which opens the vacuum line and allows the excess built-up fumes from the canister to be sucked into the intake to be burned.

Re: Black hoses coming out of fuel canister
your talking about the small 5/16 metal line that runs along side of the fuel lines right?
this is the vent from the gas tank, it should have no pressure on it.
just replace them all with a good fuel hose that you can get at any checker/autozone
depending on emisions, you could eliminate all of the hoses and the cannister?

OK cool. I'll look into my auto store for the hoses.
So is it safe to assume then that (when the engine is OFF) the lines with any kind of 'rubber' on them are NOT under pressure and do NOT contain gasoline fuel running through them? I.E. All of these hoses connected to the canister are for the fumes only? So i can pretty much pull out any one of them and don't have to worry about high-pressure gasoline squirting out at me, right?

If you remove the fuel cap that will release any pressure in the system

Ok I got all the hoses off and no gas - woohoo! But I broke one of the insanely small plastic tubes that connect to them. It's the small tube runs underneath the throttle body. Do these things have a name and/or r they easy to get?

Ok guys I was able to do everything. The hoses and plastic tubing were all surprisingly simple to get. The installation was a cinch. Just be sure when u do his that the diAmeter of the hose is the correct size both outside AND inside. ThAnks everyone!
