Lots of gray/white smoke after HSR swap
I swapped over to hsr on my 88 iroc, after finally putting t together a few months ago it finally started, but with lots of gray and white smoke that was non stop, i even drove it for about 20 miles and it did not seize. Through searching i figured it might be a bad intake gasket, so this weekend i swapped the gasket and redid the whole thing again. i dropped some water from the intake port onto the engine itself last time but drained the oil and added new oil plus an additive, last night i go to turn the car on and the smoke is still present. im unsure if it will go away if i keep the car runnign long enough, i doubt its the gasket since i just changed it, and i doubt a head gasket since the car has been non op the last few years, i was told that it might be condensation in the muffler from the water i dropped on the oil, and to just change the oil and run the car that it should eventually go away, could this be a possibility any other ideas what might be my problem, thanks in advance

what does the dipstick look like? Coolant reservoir? looking for discoloration in either due to mixing.

also, did you torque the gasket correctly (just asking), you might also have a warped intake or warped head surface.....are you using the correct gaskets??

Will the car overheat if you leave it at idle for a while?
It could be a intake gasket.
I would do a compression check to see if the heads are the issue. And a leakdown test.
If it is leaking enough to burn off coolant, it will be hard to diagnose until it gets worse. Then you might wash out bearings.
Water in the mufflers wont cause smoke like you are describing. If it gets worse I wouldnt start the car anymore.

Re: Lots of gray/white smoke after HSR swap
gaskets are 1205 and are installed correctly, no known head issues prior to the hsr swap, car was a daily driver in those days, are far are the car overheating i drove the car roughly 20 miles before the car ran fine besides the smoke, didn't over heat but it was freeway driving, but the smoke was constant. oh and the dipstick looks clean and so does the coolant. Oil was changed after the intake swap, i would hate to think i have a warped intake but i guess the only way to know would be to reisntall my old tpi unit but that would just be too much trouble. I'd figure i'm going to leave the car running alot longer and see how the smoke plays out, the only thing i haven't changed are plugs. ALso i must note i have headers but no cat, so im sure havign no cat amplifies the smoke
