Can anyone identify these?

First, a box behind the storage pouch on the passenger's side:

When I removed the lid, this is what's inside:

Second... I found this hose stopped up with a spark plug:

Last Photo is a part of AIR injection system. The air diverter valve should be connected to the AIR pump (aka SMOG pump). Smog pump should be on low passenger side.

Re: Can anyone identify these?

Thank you for the reply, RFMaster. That would explain why I didn't recognize it. This car was built in California, and I live in Florida. I've never seen a smog emissions *anything* in a car before. Sad, isn't it? So, given that this is plugged, I'm willing to say that this car is *not* green.

I think that part in the first photo is the electronic brain for the cruise control.

Its cruise

The diverter valve splits the air injection into left/right banks (the tube things) and one to the cat. The one to the cat appears to be plugged, likely from exhaust work

Re: Can anyone identify these?

So... does this car have a catalytic carburetor then? The only reason I ask is because I was told that a catalytic converter was only used with fuel injector systems. I'm not a mechanic, and this is my first project car, so I'm learning as I go.

Just look under your car - if there is a big can looking thing sitting straddling exhaust pipe next to transmission than you (most likely) have a catalytic converter. For sake of completeness - all new cars sold in USA starting 1975 model year were mandated to have catalytic converters. Carb or FI does not matter - all third gens sold in USA came equipped with CATS.
