hey guys, my car is once again not fireing as hard or something and bahgging down when i hit the gas is kinda bahhgs then goes and really doesnt take off like it was. i know its not my catalic converters there already cut out. i have 305 tpi. ive never replaced any sensors or anything u think maybe some of them or what could it be any ideas? when i first crank it up from sitting over night it stays revved up to like 1200 rpms and when i put it in drive it will just take off on its own and even change gears!!!! and when i have to stop befor its warmed up i have to apply the brakes harder because my car is still trying to go and all i do is let off brake and it goes again till about a mile or so until its warmed up hahah. what could this be...?? stoped fuel filter? my plugs and wires are not too old i replaced them pretty recently. when i cut my car off i can hear my fuel pump whinning and whilisting watever u call it when i cut car off hahah would that be causing my bahging down problems and or high revs and car tries to go on its own. please help guys!!!

 

no help or ideas? my car is hard to stop on warm-up im sure its more wear on my brake pads plus my car doesnt fire and hit and hard as it use to.

 

maybe spark plugs i had a carbed z28 do tht changed the plugs and it helped on my car might not be the plugs tho.

 

i know im gonna try that maybe again i guess and see start out cheap. kuz today i was using my heater and at the red light my A/c compressor or something would kick in raise rpms and try to pull me forward... ugh... but does have weak acceleration seems like its louder and making more air intake but just isnt going.... i dunno

 

you need a multimeter and check the values of the voltage on the throttle positioning sensor

 

I've got a 305 tpi that does the same thing. It idles really high (1200-1500 rpm) until the engine warms up. Mine is a manual so I don't have issues holding it back at a stop but while it's idling high I don't have to give it any gas to take off. I just ease the clutch out and it tries to twist the tires off. Once it is warmed up it idles just fine around 700-800rpm. I have replaced plugs, wires, and coil, set tps voltage, cleaned iac valve and reset idle speed, and thoroughly cleaned the throttle body and blades. Nothing has really affected the high idle issue. Mine does not bog down on accelleration though so that might be a seperate problem. I'm going to keep working at it and I'll keep you posted if I figure anything out. Does anyone know what other componets control idle speed on the tpi system?

 

you could have a vaccum leak

you need to test the tps and make sure the values from idle to wot are constant all the way through the moving of the throttle

 

i say about a 75% chance its the mass airflow sensor(MAS) get it checked or or have a shop scan your car that will help a lot cause it can watch you fuel mixtures and will show signs of a bad MASm

 

Could be a bad MAF or MAP sensor if your car is SD system. Also what the other guy said, check your TPS voltage. If its out of spec, it can/will cause alot of these problems you have mentioned. Also clean and check your IAC.
