Starter and Battery Question

I've swapped out my starter to a mini CVR hi-torq unit. Also relocated the battery to the trunk (Optima battery and BMR bracket).

Just wondering what gauge wiring I should use to run from the starter to the battery.

I was thinking of using 10 ga wire.

What do you suggest? Do I need to go this big with the wire?

if you run a 10 wire for the starter you better have a fire extinguisher handy
you can run a 2 gauge wire if you are woried about weight if not use a 0 gauge wire

Re: Starter and Battery Question

I use welding cable
holds up to heat, and weather plus its very flexible
and can be bought at any welding supply and the usually have the ends youll need
also I solder the ends on
the way I do it is lock the end in a vise heat it with a small torch and feed in the solder when you have filled the end up about 3/4 of the way remove the heat and stick the wire in and hold untill it cools then shrink wrap the end

I understand why you would use welding cable, but why would flexibility matter in an application like this?

due to temp changes that the car goes threw and the flexibility of all cars the cable will always be moving a little bit each time the car is driven.
