a.i.r. help....

Need a lil help... I just had to put on all the required smog equipment, my wires to the air diverter were cut so i spliced them onto new connectors matching wire color. The last thing I need to do is figure out which side of the diverter goes where.... There is like a 5/8" and a 3/4" nipple coming out of the back or the unit, I know one is to the manifolds and one to the cat, any ideas? Then, is there a way to check if its working, right now it seems to just blow out of one port, even after it warms up....

Hey man, I've got mine at home, I'll take a look when I get there in a another hour or so and let you know which goes where. I believe the top one goes to teh passenger side, the middle one to the drivers side and bottom one to the cat though I may have the middle and bottom one backwards.

As far as blowing out of one port only, I think that has something to do with the o2 sensor and how it reads the exhaust as to which port it blows out of. Either way, I wouldn't worry about it too much as long as you have it hooked up. Thats all that really matters. If your engine is built right and tuned with your air/fuel mixture perfect then you should be able to pass emissions for your year.

Re: a.i.r. help....

Thanks bro, I've got the bottom one hooked to my smog pump, now its just the two facing the firewall, I've got a splitter to run to the headers for one port, anf the other runs to a check valve then down to the cats.... My only concern was if running it to my manifolds was going to mess up my O2 readings and run it...... rich? When do I get to see the Trans Am!!!? I don't want to be the only third gen, haha.

LOL Hopefully when I get my carb back from the shop. Hoppie had his 82 out last year for a couple of things.I forgot to check today when I got home how mine is hookedup. So far as I understand, the 02 readings have nothing to do with the smog pump outside of telling the valve to switch.

I think Steven knows more about it if he's lurking on here somewhere.
