Blower motor running constantly
New to the forum. I have a 1984 Pontiac Trans Am, 305G engine. I just had some repair work done on the right fender and when I got home there is a motor running constantly. the motor is located on the right side of the battery tray and connects to a plastic tube which runs to the front of the carb. I checked my repair manual and it says nothing about this motor. What is the blower motors function and is it necessary. I could just disconnect it but I don't know WTF it does.

Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.
That blower is a dealer-installed kit from the factory to address owner complaints of vapor lock. The idea is to blow cool air on the carb when the engine isn't running to keep the fuel in the carb from boiling. It should be powered by a thermal switch in the heater hose return at the water pump. It should only run until the engine cools off.
Mine died a couple of years ago, and I can't say I've noticed a significant difference without it.
