1:6 rockers?

i have 87 iroc and apparently some one replaced lb9 w/what i believe is a mid 80's flat tappet 305 w/416 heads.anyone know if i can just add 1:6 rockers w/o any issues and how worth while or noticeable powerwise would it be?thanks!still has stck tpi setup.

1.6 should work as long as you have enough spring clearance between the coils. Be sure to check before you fire the engine up.

thankyou ill definetly check for spring clearance.do you think its even worth trying or just put a cam in it?

I would swap a cam in. Just pick one that efi compatable and in your rpm range.

1.6's will be fine on a stock setup. No clearance issues. All that factory equipment was way to small. Handful of HP gain.

Cam swaps aren't a walk in the park, depending on what tools you have available. Depending on what cam would go in, it's the tuning that's more or less the 'fun' part. Also, with stock heads, you're stuck at .480"ish, sometimes less, of lift that you can safely run before retainer-to-guide boss interference. So this kind of limits cam selection to begin with.
