engine, so frustrated
ok so ive been having problems for a while now with my 1989 camaro iroc z with the 350 v8, first it wouldnt idle after starting, i got that fixed via the iac.
then it would drive fine but when putting the pedal to the floor and above 3500rpms would hesitate or pulse before going through. Changed the fuel filter and fuel pump which fixed the problem for maybe two weeks.
now it has gotten progressively worse, tothe point where usually after driving about 20 min the car will not let me accelerate the rpms above 2500 which if i try car seems to stall but not turn off just slowly decelerate till i let off gas. i have to keep it around a steady 2000 rpms to drive and keep at speed. going up hills is terrible because i cant accelerate, and the longer i seem to drive the lower i can get the rpms to go up and sometimes it seems like the car just will not accelerate at all then starts to go again.
any help please, im thinking maybe the cat converter or i was told by a friend the egr? any backing to these claims or further solutions or things to try would be a great help, or if youd like any more information just ask
thanks

ohm the injectors and pickup coil. check fuel pressure, codes. if the cat is clogged your exhaust will sound strange.

your exhaust would sound more like air blowing with little tone. i guess with little knowledge of cars you probably dont have an ohm meter. do you have a repair manual on the car? you can check codes with a paperclip and use the book to find the problem. injectors are a very common problem though. if you pay someone to fix it your looking at $400 or more.

If you think you have a cat restriction, pull out the o2 sensor before the cat, or loosen pipe before cat, and run it down the road, if problem goes away you found the culprit good luck..... dont give up

it may be a tranny filter if its an auto. try that. its not expensive if you do it yourself
