i have been trying to figure out my engine problem for a while now. i've come to believe that it is either the Intake Air Temp Sensor (IAT) or the 9th "injector" which is the Cold Start Injector located off of the fuel rail and such on the left side of the engine. or i guess it could be both.

my problem isn't replacing them or anything...its finding where to buy them. i went to advanced auto parts today and they couldn't seem to find anything like them in their computers. now i did read that they were discontinued after 86...so i wonder if they're computers just didn't pick that up or what...either way i need to know where or how to get them. and how much do they cost? just wondering.

O'reillys sells the 9th injector. They call it a "cold start valve" I think. I was recently looking for some other parts on their website and it caught my eye because it is ridiculously expensive. I think it was around $150. I'd make damn sure that's your problem before spending that much on it. Not sure about the IAT but I'd check napa or carquest. They seem to carry some of the less common parts that have been "discontinued" acording to autozone and advance.

 

ok so i went to advanced today and described the IAT better and such with the part in hand. got that. i also took the cold start injector, they found one that was "close" for $153...but wasn't an exact match so 30min of searching and no luck...so i'll check O'reillys but im gona bet its the same as advanced

Have you checked CSI switch at front of intake is working correctly before investing in a new CS injector?
Should be 12V coming out of switch to injector when cranking

 

ya i got that, thats the IAT im talking about. i bought another one of those but im 95% sure its the injector itself. so im going to replace both so i don't need to take it apart again. I'm going to a ACDelco distributor today and hopefully they can get one
