Help identifying heads
Help identifying heads
I need some help identifying my cylinder heads... I pulled the valve covers got got ALL of the numbers/casting/codes from the heads, but when I search for the findings I come up with nothing...
There are only two numbers/codes on the heads and they are:
GM14T
C26 76
the code "C26 76" is stamped exactly like that on the head, with the space between the numbers. I double, triple, quadruple checked that those letters and numbers are exactly what is on the head and nothing else. Everything under the valve cover is pretty clean and there is not evidence of numbers being filed off or anything like that... Engine is a 350ci, not sure exactly what the block casting numbers are, as they are hidden behind my AC bracket and I haven't had the time to remove all that to get to the block casting number.

Re: Help identifying heads
Those numbers or anything like it don't exist on my heads... at least on my driver side head...

Check the other head. Maybe the ones on the driver side wore off somehow.

Re: Help identifying heads
The "GM14T" looks like the beginning of the number. GM has heads from the 80's that start with a 14, but the T could be a worn number maybe?
Re: Help identifying heads
The GM14T is on the driver side head, near the firewall end of the end, just between the last and 2nd to last valve springs (closest to firewall). The numbers/letters arent all the same size though, the G is small, the M14 is about twice the size as the G, and the T is the same size as the G. If that makes any since lol.... basically its like this, but all uppercase: gM14t.
the other numbers I saw, the C26 76, if I'm correct that is the date code. So they heads were built March 26th 1976?

Re: Help identifying heads
they could be some old aftermarket heads. or maybe there is sludge covering the numbers.

Re: Help identifying heads
Best way to get an answer here - take a pic of one of the heads with the valve cover off.
