Couple of questions...
Hey all
Just ran at the 8th mile track here in greer SC and although it was a fun day i had lots of headaches. First my mechanial edelbrock fuel pump seems to be transfering a lot of heat onto the fuel hose and its melting the end of it. Ending up spraying a lot of gas all over. Its regular fuel hose im using for it. Is there high temp line or something? The engine isnt overheating according to my temp gauge and that brings me to my next question.. i had to rig the temp sender end that goes into the head. I switched to vortec heads and on my old stock heads the sender seated perfect and snug. Well on these vortec heads the hole seems a lot deeper cause when i tighten the nut all the way down i can still push the sender farther in the head and it leaks if i dont pull it back. So i just put a little clamp on it to keep pressure on the sender. Seemed to work for now but i would really like something thats gonna fit. That or i could put it into my edelbrock performer intake however the place to put it on the front is to short, go figure..
any suggestions here? Thanks all
Btw way the iroc ran 11.2 first pass which the shift points were way off, a 10.00 on the 2nd which the tranny jumped from 1st to 3rd for some reason (human error? lol) and 9.40 the 3rd run spinning 30 feet down the track.. on steet tires.. was fun though.

Re: Couple of questions...
make sure the fuel lines are far away from the exhaust. if its close put some fire blanket around the lines. check the lines all the way from the tank to the carb.

Re: Couple of questions...
You know heres whats weird.. my fuel pump is located in the same place as the stock one ofcourse but instead of the outlets facing forward they are facing down as i had to put a outlet relocation kit on it for the pump that i got. Well only the outlet hose is melting at the connection to the fuel pump. The one coming from the gas tank is fine.. I was thinking ok maybe the headers are heating up the fuel pump more then usual but if that happened i would think both hoses would melt.. crazy crazy..
