yes and no. all centerbolt motors that came in third gens were roller motor 87 on up but the centerbolt motors in trucks stayed flat tappet for a little while longer until 91 I believe someone please correct me if I am wrong but to the best of my understanding the information I have given is correct.

All 1 pce seal ('86+ ) blocks are machined for roller cams but the truck engines had flat tappet cams installed
The truck engine will take all the factory roller cam parts to run a roller cam

Vettes are different too. IIRC, Mid 86 Vettes got center bolt heads but kept the flat tappet cam. Early 86 Vettes had perimeter bolt heads and flat tappet cams.

In 87 they got roller cams to go along with thre CB heads.

Re: What motors are roller cam?

so I guess the general concensus is that as long as it is a mid 86 on up motor then it will accept rollers not sure if the holes for the spider hold down assembly are there already though. My guess would be no but wouldn't be the first time I was incorrect about something. Hope it helps.
