Help finding vacum leak?
When i drive sometimes i feel hot air coming in from under my feet.
A friend of mine told me it was a vaccum leak, anyone agree?
The car does have trouble starting at times i have to give it gas sometimes.
So i need advice on finding this leak(s) myself.
-What can i do?
My friend tried sprinkling water on the visible hoses, found nothing though.
Any advice? What to look for etc.
Methods?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Help finding vacum leak?
Vacuum leak not the cause of the heat - when heater controls lose vacuum they default to the defrost vents, not the floor.
Spray brake cleaner around the seal between the intake and engine and around the vacuum lines and connections - rpm's should increase at an idle if there's a leak and where you sprayed will be the area. Don't use carb cleaner - it's much more volitile and combustible.

Re: Help finding vacum leak?
hmm can anyone tell me where the vacuum lines are located? so i can take a look at them and see if there is anything obvious. Im glad to hear that it might not be a leak after all but i have been having some start up issues so i want to check the lines.
A picture or good description would help a lot.

Re: Help finding vacum leak?
They're all over the engine bay; both sides and the rear mostly. Any rubber hose that doesn'rt carry fluid will be vacuum, IIRC.
The biggest one comes off the the power brake booster and runs to the intake manifold. All the rest will be as small or smaller than your "pinky" finger. Leaks occur at where the intake manifold meets the cylinder heads, where the injectors go into the fuel rails and intake.
You REALLY need to buy a manual (Haynes, Chilton, etc.) that has photos showing where the hoses are. AutoZone, etc. carry them for around $20.
