Bigger Crank = less Mileage
I figured since this is the racing board that maybe some members have put a scat 3.75 stroker crank into their 350 engine. Myu question related to the gas mileage that you get from putting a bigger crank in. Does the Mileage really go down alot. I heard in teh past that a 350 bored .030 got 15 mpg then with the bigger crank to make it a 383 it only got 9 mpg. Is this true? thanks!

Not the 305 I have a 350 4 bolt engine that was bored .030 over and was going to stroke it to make it a 383 but since I have only 1 car thats my daily driver I might just leave the original 305 engine in it for now until I get another 3rd gen.

Re: Bigger Crank = less Mileage
It all comes down to the combo of parts, the fuel and ECM delivery and the overall set-up. A 400hp LS1 can get 30mpg but an older 110hp carb motor can get 17mpg. Crank length is an irrelavant factor in fuel economy. Engine set-up, design, and efficiency (i.e SPFI vs carb) make all the difference.
