alternator squeling
well the belt obviously. i replaced the alternator about 4 weeks ago and since then the belt squels for a few seconds on startup then goes away and its fine til i stop and start the car back up. i figure either i have the belt too tight or loose. when i put the alternator on i put it on as tight as i could with a cheater bar while i tightened the bolts. is there an easy way to adjust the belt without loosening the alternator bolts or is that pretty much the only way??

Pretty much the only way. Sometimes it helps to have a buddy hold it tight with a pry bar while you tighten the bolts.

Two things I do is hold a bar of soap on the belt while it is running for a few seconds. This will lub the belt, especially if it is new. I will shoota some WD40 on the center bolt on all of my pully's, air, water pump, crank, etc. I like my belts tight so I won't loosen it up to get rid of n
