Ticking Noise

i recently installed some rocker arms, and a new rearend on my 84 Z28, at idle it seems fine, when i start driving as soon as i hit about 10mph you can hear a pretty loud ticking sound

could over tightening the rockers cause this noise only when driving and not when idle?

Re: Ticking Noise

no could be slight detonation if you installed a higher ratio rocker. try a higher octane gas next time you fill up. Are you sure it's not coming from the rear end?

Re: Ticking Noise

ok i dont think its coming from the engine compartment, i did a whole rear suspension recently including the rearend and driveshaft, could the drivshaft cause this noise? and how can i make sure, Thanks.

Re: Ticking Noise

probably unrelated, check to make sure the flex plates bolts are tight, my freind had this issue with his 4L60 where someting broke in the trans. and made a real funny noise I'm trying to remember what that was exactly. The sun gear breaks all the time in those tranny's also the 4L60's, and the 700's. May be time for that dreaded rebuild. That is if the flex plate bolts arren't loose. They can make all kinds of funny sounds.
