87 Iroc plagued with problems!!!

Ok so i just finished a resto on my 87 Iroc and recently got it plated. Every time i fix one thing something else goes. I just went through a U joint and 2 slave cylinders in the last week. And now it wont start. Its was running awesome and just quit... upon inspection i noticed i had a plug that backed itself out a bit and was leaking compression ( tough to tighten them with headers ) so i got that squared away. Fuel pump is priming, engine turning over, and injectors are pulsing ( can smell it flooding up major ) anyone had this problem before? my check engine light is on so i can drag it down to the local shop and run the codes but its seen enough of the trailer in the last week. It has a 305 TPI/5 speed. thanks

Yup... usually how it goes, one thing gets fixed... another breaks... AS far as the starting issue, check if you have spark. You can buy an inline spark tester pretty cheap at a Harbor Freight or a parts store. Start with the basics. Fuel, Air, and Spark. then you'll be able to find the issue easier...

Welcome to the thirdgen world! That car is at least 23 yrs old, it's gonna do that. Just stay on it, it gets better eventually!

Re: 87 Iroc plagued with problems!!!

ok well definitly no spark. gonna start cheap and simple with cap and rotor. if that does not work does anyone know the proper way to test the coil, pick up coil and ignition module? if its not simple like cap and rotor i may just pick up a MSD pro billet dist. and coil for it. i dont see much point in putting a new part in a 23 year old distributor thats junk anyways. but i would also like to test these components to make sure that it is indeed ignition related and not just a power failure elsewhere. before i spend money on a new system. Im not to hot with ignition stuff but what i can tell you is that i have power to all 4 wires that plug into the top of the coil (2 pinks.....or faded red and 2 whites....or faded light brown)
