Re: broke crossmember bolts
A trick I learned to get broken bolts out is to take a chisel, scraper, or anything that can cut a straight groove into the broken bolt, then use a flat head and turn it out by hand. Now if the bolt broke far enough into hole I would take my smallest flathead and a hammer and pound in into bolt a few times and then begin turning. I have removed countless broken oil pan bolts like this.

Re: broke crossmember bolts
get better drill bits. I had my brother change my friends trans mount at the shop and 2 of the 4 bolts snapped flush.
His bits weren't that sharp so it took about an hour to drill them out.
Get some Tungsten Carbide bits.
